Word Collage:
What to do when you've already done everything else you can think of and are starting to go crazy.

Boredom and creativity are close companions. Month after month of wallowing around in a very small and repetitive safer-at-home routine led me to pay more attention to the amount of junk catalogues and magazines that arrive regularly in my mailbox but usually end up in the recycle bin without any consideration whatsoever.  After a while I started to notice the interesting fonts, textures and patterns in snippets of articles and advertisements. I decided to start cutting them out and putting them in a little pouch. Soon the collection outgrew my little pouch and moved to a bigger box. I had collected so many words and images that they covered my workspace and begged to be assembled somehow. As I sorted through them all, I noticed some themes: family, adventure, wonder, and confidence. It looked like a project to me! In the spirit of vision-board-on-steroids, I did what artists do. I made a series. I made Mother's Day cards. I made gifts for my friends. I made a new layer of "glue skin" on my fingers. I made the time fly by -- sometimes the biggest blessing of all.
